Introduction:

Plant Life - Cotton Poplin Designer Shirting is a fun ex-designer cotton poplin fabric with a confident designer style, perfect for creating cool, cotton garments and so much more. This cool sky blue-hued design has a quirky combination of fungi, trees and foliage specimens printed onto first-quality cotton poplin. The uplifting palette of cool-blue and soft cream hues is perfect for adding a fun touch to your handmade summer wardrobe.

Colour:

Plant Life is created from fine optic white, cotton yarns woven with a super smooth poplin weave and is printed with a summer sky blue-hued background featuring cream with black outlined plant life.

Properties:

Plant Life is a high thread count all cotton poplin that is cool, breathable, soft and has a stable hand, with a soft drape quality too. When gathered and pleated it will form excellent fullness, perfect for seriously feminine styles. Alternatively, create crisp masculine shirts that will receive admiring glances.

Garment ideas:

Plant Life will make great classic and retro-style shirts, Sew Mark Francis' Brighton Shirt Pattern and Vanessa Mooncie's Book: The Gentleman's Wardrobe also has a similar retro-style shirt pattern with cropped sleeves.

Put this fabulous fabric to use for '50s/ skater style fit & flare dresses with cinched waistlines and deeply pleated skirts to create the iconic looks from "Mad Men". Create the ultimate '70s-inspired Kaftan dress with Sew Different's Camomile Kaftan or a wonderfully Boho ruffled wrap dress with the Darjeeling Frock.

Key pieces such as simple shirts and tops will make a workable capsule wardrobe when teamed with your jeans, plain trousers and skirts. Shirt-dresses, tunics and play/jumpsuits are also excellent choices to make from this cool cotton classic.

The Megan Nielsen Patterns' Protea Capsule Wardrobe would make perfect example of pretty full-gathered styles for easy, stunning outfits and so versatile!

All of these ex-designer shirting fabrics will of course make the most handsome classic pyjamas with piped collars, pockets and cuffs. Create cute outfits for babies and toddlers with gathered/ elasticated details and sweet Peter Pan collars.

Other Uses:

Add this fabric to your crafting stash for holiday-themed patchwork and applique pieces and so much more. Team with stripes, small checks and polka dots or solid hues for total coordination.
