To create this fabric we started by purchasing a supply of beautiful, white, pure lambswool surplus yarn, that we calculated would yield 6 new fabrics once woven up. After weaving, the plain white raw fabric was sent to the finishers for dyeing and finishing. Through overdyeing a plain white fabric, we did take a risk. Different yarns take colours in different ways, and after the finishing we found that some of the warp yarns hadn’t quite taken up the dye as expected. Within the weave of these softly finished fabrics there are narrow, but visible, striations at intervals along the length. This issue is apparent through the entire 2025 Delicious Delights collection, although in some colours you will not even notice it. The fabric is flawless in quality but flawed in the colour take up.

At Fabworks we do not seek to pull the wool over our customers’ eyes, and therefore are reducing the price of these glorious cloths to reflect the inconsistency in dyeing that affects the whole collection, even where it has minimal impact. We had intended to offer the Delicious Delights collection at £40.00 per metre, to reflect its pure lambswool content, high quality weaving, and the premium price that white pure wool yarn commands. Having examined the finished lengths and seen the imperfection, we will be selling all the colours in this year’s collection at just £25.00 per metre, not because we think they are only worth that, but because we want you, the customer, to be able to afford the extra metreage that may be required to create your perfect self-bespoke pieces, from our flawless yet flawed fabric, in whichever colours you prefer.
