Shade: This super-soft furnishing corduroy sports a versatile, darker, almost black–grey charcoal hue. The lustrous napped yarns also create multi-tonal effects within the ridged linear weave characteristic of corduroy.
Design: Silken Charcoal features a vertical linear design of 'cords' in repeating wide, medium and narrow widths.
Style: This textural stripe has broad appeal thanks to its versatility. Place it in a variety of interiors, from minimalist-modern for subtle texture, to mid-century modern, and even more traditional spaces.
Properties:
Texture: As its name suggests, Furnishing Corduroy - Silken Charcoal has a wonderfully soft, almost silky, lightly ridged texture. Corduroys have a directional pile, and this fabric boasts a pleasing short but super soft pile.
Handle: This fabric boasts excellent stability in width and lengthwise, yet possesses the most pleasingly soft malleability.
Drape: Silken Charcoal will drape and pool beautifully when fashioned into soft gathers, pleats and tucks.
Garment Suggestions:
Types: Although this is a fabric designed for curtaining, we have seen some truly unique garments made from our curtain materials, such as utility style pieces, jackets and dungarees.
Patterns: Consider patterns such as the Ilford Jacket, the Lynsey Dungarees, the Osborn Dungarees or the Cordelia Trousers
Other Uses:
Accessories: Create matching garment accessories: clutch bags, make-up pouches, hats and caps.
Furnishings: cushions, bean bags, floor cushions, boxed seat covers, curtains, pelmets. Silken Charcoal is super soft so would be great used as a backing for wool and fur throws.
Upcycling: Try making doorstops, draught excluders and more. Use your smaller scraps to customise denim jackets and jeans with appliquéd details.
