Reasons Why We Love Linen

Linen Properties

Linen’s natural beauty is matched by its impressive performance. Whether chosen in the lightest airy weights or the more substantial midweights for transitional seasons, it remains one of the most versatile fabrics available. Popular for both clothing and home décor, linen is prized for being:

  • Breathable
  • Moisture‑absorbent and moisture‑wicking
  • Durable and long‑lasting
  • Naturally resistant to moths & pests
  • Stain‑resistant
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Resistant to pilling
  • Able to withstand high washing temperatures
  • Rustic and natural, with appealing slubs and texture

These qualities combine to give linen its character and versatility, with an appeal that is both timeless and effortlessly stylish.

The Beauty of Sewing with Linen

Linen is a joy to sew with, offering a unique balance of structure and movement that suits a wide range of garments. From breezy tops and wide‑leg trousers to sharp dresses, tailored separates, and relaxed everyday pieces, linen adapts beautifully to your style.

Its breathability makes it ideal for warm‑weather dressing, while its natural drape and crisp finish let you choose between fluid silhouettes or cleaner, more refined shapes. Whatever you create, linen rewards you with garments that wear comfortably and remain wardrobe favourites season after season.

Linen Care Guide

Caring for your linen is as easy as wearing it. With our simple Linen Care Guide, we’ve taken the guesswork out of looking after your beautiful makes.

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle, 30–40°C with mild detergent.
  • Hand wash delicate or loosely woven linens in lukewarm water.
  • Air dry where possible; reshape and smooth as it dries.
  • Tumble dry low only if desired, remove while slightly damp to reduce creasing.
  • Iron while damp on a medium–hot steam setting for a crisp finish.
  • Or embrace the natural creases for a relaxed, lived‑in look.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, avoid plastic, let natural fibres breathe.
