Colour:

Smoke grey and fresh white are expertly woven together in alternating groups and intersecting fine lines throughout the warp and weft in classic cool linen yarns and create a very versatile micro windowpane check of 4x4mm blocks. This marvellous combination is perfect for stand-alone pieces or for combining with more distinctive hues as a grounding tone.

Properties:

Linen has been used for centuries because of its beneficial properties; cool and breathable, gets softer with washing & wear and linen is impervious to moths and resists dirt and stains. Linen will not form lint or pill and can be washed at high temperatures with only moderate shrinkage. (approx 4%)

The characteristic slubs (once viewed as a fault) are now part of the aesthetic appeal of quality linen fabric. Smoke Signal is stable, and lightly textured, with the reassuring naturally absorbent and comfortable feel of a favourite linen garment, lightly crisp and will soften with washing and wear. This medium-weight fabric is closely woven with an Oxford shirting style.

Garment Suggestions:

Smoke Signal will form crisp details (with a little light interfacing), on collars, cuffs and waistbands. Used in quantity it will form soft and full feminine gathers, plus neat pleats with a reassuring drape. All you have to do is decide what to make.
