Autumn Plum Trim - Heart of Huddersfield 2022 Selvedge
We acquired this wonderful by-product from our Heart of Huddersfield 2022 Wool tweeds, knowing it was just too good to let it go to waste.
These colourful textured wonders form an integral part of the construction of the fabric, providing a stable edge to the fabrics whilst being woven, they are cut off the fabric before it goes to the finishers.
Our fabric expert Dawn has a magpie’s eye for beautiful textiles and noticed a myriad of coloured yarns artfully woven in these useful selvedge trims.
This collection of selvedges all contain a mixture of yarn combinations to the centre band consisting of rust, red, grey, blue & brown. The complementary hues that give the impression of a woven braid. Each colourway of the fabrics such as purple of Hillside Heather & green of Frosted Forest is present on either side of the braid detail forming a double-sided fringed trim with a similar style to the bespoke trim one would find on a French couture jacket.
Colour:
The colour of Autumn Plum - Mist Herringbone is inspired by rich red-skinned plums on English fruit trees found in cottage gardens. The welcome harvest of these delicious fruits can be preserved and made into a sweet tangy jam, with the deep red skins adding a pop of colour and a tasty reminder of the good things to come!
Featured chevrons of red yarn create an overall impression that is fruitful and warming. Ideal to team up with autumnal shades for added cosiness and a reassuring comfort for when the days become shorter and the nights get longer.

Disclaimer: This trim is raw with an open, unfinished wool meaning there are loose fibres which may be irritable to those with allergies.
