This reassuringly heavy cotton serge coating is woven from a complimentary combination of two yarns which have produced its versatile denim like look. This sturdy and textured fabric has a deep indigo blue double warp which is woven through on the weft in a bi-colour yarn of mid grey and black, producing a subtle limestone effect. The alternating navy and grey characteristic diagonal lines of the twill weave have a pleasing rugged look and texture created by tiny slubs within the yarn.

Boasting a soft, non-itchy feel that could easily pass for wool, and a sturdy and stable handle (width and lengthwise), plus a fabulous heavy drape quality that’s perfect for coat making amongst a multitude of other uses. Denim lovers will adore the smart simplicity of this heavy weight cotton fabric.

Ideal projects to make are; overcoats and pea coats, cropped boxy jacket styles, matching neat pencil skirts and pinafore dresses too.

If garment making isn’t your forte 100% Cotton Serge Coating - Rustic Indigo & Limestone will make super soft furnishings; curtains, cushions, light upholstery, etc. Historical costume makers and cos-play fans this heavy and drapey fabric will make excellent capes and tunics.

If you enjoy the craft of bag making or accessories this fabric will also make great bags, hats and caps.

Wonderful Workwear Fabric

Bought to make the Clyde Jumpsuit from Elizabeth Suzann and it was perfect for the job. Easy to work with, very durable and comfortably to wear with just enough drape. The topstitch details look great on this fabric. I'll be using what's left to make the Helen's Closet Pona Jacket. A really great fabric at a fantastic price.

Wow! Soft, cozy, comfy

I bought this thinking it might work for a pair of trousers but it was really pretty thick and so I thought again and made an Ilford Jacket with it. It’s absolutely lovely fabric and I’m so pleased with my new jacket! The cut edges do fray a bit and drop stray threads but not in a way that makes you worried about the integrity of the cut pieces, it’s more just a bit untidy in the workroom. So soft, you could honestly mistake it for wool, and a real bargain at the price. Looks super!
